Keep on Pushing!

When you feel that you have failed in some way or haven’t met your goals how does it make you react? Are you the type to hang back and accept failure, or worse, to wallow in your demise? Many people would react that way at least for a while until they are able to recover their self-confidence.

High!

Then there is another ‘Warrior’ or ‘Ninja’ type that would get mad and fight harder to overcome whatever it is. Maybe with oaths being uttered that they will overcome whatever it is with a vengeance. In either case it is probably a good idea to kick back for minute and ask yourself what happened and why things turned out the way they did. Plenty of the time it is nothing you did or had control over – it Is ‘just the way it is’.

So then we must go on to accept that (for a minute) in order to transcend the various emotions and/or mop up all the spilled milk. A couple points to keep in mind in case you ever find yourself in a situation like this. Feeling bad, like a loser, or blaming yourself (even if you did it) does absolutely nothing to help. It doesn’t change anything and it definitely doesn’t help you get your life spinning back in a positive direction. In fact it has the opposite effect of sending you further back down.

Sans the self-judgment, self-pity, etc., it probably is pretty important to analyze exactly what happened, where when and why. This is only so that you may formulate a better plan next time that has all the good points you had going and terminates the mistakes if possible. Believe it or not this can work for everything from your home business, your day job, your family relationships, and even to your health.

There is a lot of be said about ‘turning over a new leaf’ no matter what the frame of reference. There will more than likely always be a tomorrow and that represents an opportunity to start over and do better. You might consider it a silly analogy but visualize the way you skin your knees or even break your bones and how they do heal if you take the right actions to correct or heal the situation.

So bottom line is ‘never say die’ and never give up. Never. Use your common sense or logic to get your head straight and then do something that involves making a better decision. You would be surprised how the result is better too. By the same token if you keep making the same mistake, you will keep having the wrong result. You just need to determine which is which and it is ok to envision the angel on the shoulder and the other guy opposite. Stick with the angel,

Willing to Sacrifice to Start a Home Business?

This is a big question because the sacrifices you may be required to make to start a home business may cover a lot of your life. For example are you willing to sacrifice your free time? Are you willing to sacrifice your spare change? It would be nice if these sacrifices would show a direct benefit immediately. However in most cases if you are new to Internet Marketing, it may take you a while to see anything in return for your sacrifice.

start a home business

Pretty much anybody who ever tried to do anything significant has had to sacrifice something in order to get it. Very few things are ever delivered ‘on a silver platter’. However sometimes if you think ahead and have a long-range plan, you might mitigate the sense of having to give up something to get what you want.

This can be as simple as squirreling away $5 a week. That is less than or equal to one lunch out or one fancy coffee. Which will add up to more than $200 in one year. If your situation is such that all you can spare without noticing is $1-$2, then do that instead. The point is to save some money so that you have something to operate with when you start a home business.

Contrary to the usual belief, it is very inexpensive to stat and run a home business on the Internet. Particularly if you compare it to an offline business. You will see you are spending pennies on the dollar in comparison. Probably if people didn’t believe that ‘you have to have money to make money’ which may or not be more or less true, you can start an online business for next to nothing if necessary.

Surely as with all things, if you have at least a little money to work with things can be considerably easier for you to start a home business. If you can learn how to do things yourself you can save some of your operating money. Then as you progress you could certainly delegate those tasks to someone or something that can save you some time and effort.

The truth is though if you are enjoying what you are doing and are really enthusiastic about having your own business, you won’t see it as so much toil and trouble. Work can be fun and like anything else it is all about how you look at it. So in addition to a plan and some time to build a foundation before you even start, you might want to take some time to build your mindset in a productive direction.

Using Effective Words in Content and Conversation

There are very dramatic, compelling words that are used in advertising and other Internet communications. The one that seems the best right now is ‘jaw-dropping’ and that really does say a lot when you think about it. If words are overused, however they become almost meaningless and lose all their effectiveness. In fact they become nerve wracking.

talk talk

The ones that so need to be retired from communications, especially oral are words like ‘absolutely’ and ‘awesome’. Can you please think of some other way to express these emotions before you bore everybody to death? Especially ‘absolutely’ – you can say for sure, definitely, or undoubtedly. This is abused in both directions whether absolutely or absolutely not.

For ‘awesome’ you can say beautiful, stunning, jaw-dropping, far out, phenomenal, or wonderful. Awesome is actually a very nice word and it is too bad it has been abused and is now a watered-down version of itself that is shallow as far as emotion or meaning.

OK so you are trying to be emphatic but you ruin the very emotion you are trying to demonstrate by using a trite overused word. Hopefully if people begin to notice and leave them alone for a while they can come back someday and be used again without being boring.

Other words that are absolutely infuriating are ‘no problem’. Now this would be appropriate if someone has made a mistake and was apologizing or explaining what happened. ‘No problem’ says don’t worry about it, it will be ok. But how did it graduate to take over the job of ‘you’re welcome’???

This is when you tell someone ‘thank you’ and they say ‘no problem’. Who said anything about a problem??? What was said was ‘thank you’ and you could say ‘you are welcome’ or if you can’t squeeze that out then ‘ok’ would certainly be better than ‘no problem’.

There are various lists of ‘power words’ and words that are stars in the art of ‘emotional writing’. It would be very good if you were to make a list of your favorites so that you could bring it when you are writing a blog post, email or other advertisement. Some honorable mention in this category are for example: block-buster, amazing, inspired, secret, improved, proven, remarkable, miracle, and authentic There are hundreds more but I think you get the picture.

There are other perspectives to the psychology of using words to motivate people. This site is particularly comprehensive if you want to research this subject further.
